We proudly welcome Wan Zhao and Patrick Higgins as the new owners of Made in the Shade of Northern Kentucky.  Wan and Patrick come to Made in the Shade with a unique blend of experience and talents that are sure to be of great value as they launch and build their new window fashion business. We are excited for their opportunity and the Made in the Shade Corporate Team and our family of owners will support them every step of the way.

Patrick graduated from Ohio State University with a viola performance major. He established a Violin shop upon graduating college and won two gold medals at the Arizona International Violin Maker’s Competition in 2019 and the Merit of Tone award at the prestigious Violin Society of America competition in 2010. Patrick is also a licensed realtor in the Northern Kentucky area.

Wan graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Violin performance major and played with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra in Charleston, West Virginia for 10 seasons. Following her performing career, Wan started her own mortgage broker firm and was featured as a top loan producer in 2022 in the National Mortgage Professional magazine.

Together, Patrick and Wan enjoyed performing with the Tran-Siberian Orchestra and various musicians such as Josh Groban, Ricky Skaggs, and Michael Bublé.

What hobbies/interests do you enjoy doing in your free time?

We are extremely devoted to our love of music. Accordingly, I like to spend much of my free time playing the violin and Patrick thoroughly enjoys crafting his violins. He also loves to attend car shows and collect comic books. When we have the opportunity, we also love to travel, go boating on Lake Huron, and fish.

Tell us about your family and their interests

Patrick and I have two sons. Our Oldest son, Jackson, is fifteen years old and plays football and basketball for Dixie Heights High School. He loves to work out and always wants to join in whenever we go fishing.

Our younger son, Oskar, is eleven years old and is a history and geography enthusiast. Like his brother, Oskar loves to play football and basketball. His favorite holiday is Halloween. The family is rounded out by their three dogs Ali, Taco, and Biscuit.

What appealed to you about the Made in the Shade opportunity?

The most striking difference between Made in the Shade and the other opportunities we researched is the family culture. That was evident throughout the process and we are excited to be part of this successful and growing family.
