Made in the Shade warmly welcomes Pat Cooper and Cheryl Brantley as the new owners of Made in the Shade in Lake Placid, Florida. This husband and wife partnership blends two very different skill sets that are sure to result in a highly successful home-based business. Pat has extensive sales experience in a variety of positions. Cheryl is the owner of a real estate firm that provides her an in-depth understanding of business operations and of course is no stranger to selling. Their considerable involvement in their community, combined with the real estate firm, represents a tremendous  opportunity to attract prospective clients looking for a window fashion professional.

Professional background

Pat is a lifelong Floridian and he and his family have deep roots in Florida going back decades. He was in law enforcement for 10 years, worked as a soil fumigation specialist for 20 years, and has held a Florida real estate license since 2017.

Cheryl grew up in a real estate and construction family. She’s had her real estate license since 1984 and is also the owner of Brantley Properties, a real estate brokerage in Highlands County. Cheryl believes in supporting her local community, having served as a Lake Placid town council person on the board of directors for the Chamber of Commerce and Heartland Association of Realtors.

What hobbies/interests do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Pat is an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoys much of the year-round activities that Florida has to offer. He spends long days on our air boat, loves fishing, hunting, and exploring the wooded areas of our community. His other interests include Florida history, building projects, grilling and gardening.

Cheryl spends her free time growing succulents, decorating, home improvement projects, boating with Pat and all things real estate.

Tell us about your family and their interests

We have four grown children, a 1-year-old grandson and another grandson due in April!  Of course, we love our furry children as well. We enjoy spending time with our family and friends, frequent cook outs and relaxing around the fire pit in our yard.

What appealed to you about the Made in the Shade opportunity?

From the very first person we spoke to all the way up to the owner, it became evident that Made in the Shade has a family culture and are extraordinarily supportive of the franchisees. They always made us feel like no question was off-limits or silly and took the time to ensure we understood everything completely. Our discussions with current Made in the Shade franchisees confirmed our impressions, as they truly felt the same way about the management and ownership as we did. Everyone we spoke with was so open to discuss their success and willing to help us make our decision.
