Please join us in welcoming Chrissy Bowen, the new owner of Made in the Shade Southeast Grand Rapids, proudly serving Grand Rapids, Forest Hills, East Grand Rapids, Ada, Kentwood, Caledonia, Cascade, Byron Center, and surrounding West Michigan communities!
Chrissy comes to Made in the Shade with an impressive 25 years of hands-on experience in the window treatment industry. For 22 years, she owned and operated her own custom drapery workroom, creating premium soft treatments while working with homeowners and interior designers on shades, shutters, blinds, and custom window fashions. She later spent three years as a window treatment and hardware specialist with Fabricut, where she helped interior designers bring sophisticated and highly customized projects to life.
After spending two decades living and raising her family in Texas, Chrissy and her husband, Mark, knew it was time to return home to Michigan. Having worked with several Made in the Shade owners during her career, Chrissy had already seen the benefits of the brand’s mobile showroom model and personalized approach to serving homeowners. Combining that model with her extensive industry knowledge made opening Made in the Shade Southeast Grand Rapids a natural next chapter.
Chrissy brings much more than product knowledge to her new business. Her background as an artisan and design professional gives her the ability to help homeowners think through the complete look, function, and performance of their window treatments. From custom drapery and shutters to energy-efficient shades and motorized solutions, she is passionate about helping clients make confident design decisions that complement their homes and lifestyles.
Family remains at the center of Chrissy’s life. She and Mark are excited to be back in the Midwest after their years in Texas. Their son, JT, lives and works in Austin, while their daughter, Kate, is studying nursing at the University of Oklahoma. Outside of work, Chrissy enjoys sewing, reading, and spending time with her family.
We’re excited to welcome Chrissy to the Made in the Shade family and to see her bring decades of craftsmanship, design expertise, and personalized service to homeowners throughout Southeast Grand Rapids. With 25 years of industry experience behind her and an exciting new chapter ahead, we know Chrissy will be an incredible addition to the Made in the Shade network.
