Made in the Shade is pleased to introduce Derek and Odet Picard as the proud new owners of Made in the Shade Southern Rhode Island. They reside in Cranston, Rhode Island, where they are raising their young son, Ace, and will also serve as the home base of their new Made in the Shade business.  We are thrilled to have them as the newest owners and members of our family. We look forward to supporting them throughout this exciting new journey.

Professional background

Derek comes to Made in the Shade with a work history that lends perfectly to owning and operating a family-owned business. Derek’s 30 years of management experience as District Service Manager in the automotive industry ensures a clear focus on providing world class service to their customers. His 9 years as a consultant helping dealers improve margins and profits is a critical skill that will pay dividends.

Odet has studied and worked in the medical field as a health information specialist. She brings invaluable experience to the business from having played a critical role in her family’s business. Together, Derek and Odet are the perfect combination to launch and operate their new business.

What hobbies/interests do you enjoy doing in your free time?

We love to spend time together raising our son. Our daily routine of long outdoor walks, play time and reading books brings great enjoyment to all three of us.  I am also a musician regularly performing with  my acoustic group “Scarlett”. Odet and I both enjoy giving back to the community through charity work and donations. Toys for Tots & Operation Stand Down are just a few of the charities that are regularly supported.

Tell us about your family and their interests

Derek & I married on July 26, 2019 shortly after our son Ace was born. Derek also has a 19-year-old daughter attending college in Rhode Island. Binx, the family cat, thinks he is the boss of the family but tends to behave as long as he is given his daily treats. Derek and I love to collaborate on renovating and designing our beautiful home that was built in the 1940s.
