Made in the Shade Blinds and More proudly welcomes Tony Rich from Bucks County, PA to our stellar team! Tony is no amateur when it comes to owning and operating successful businesses! In fact, he brings quite an impressive resume and skill set to his new MITS business.
Upon completing college, Tony began working in the financial industry as an investment banker. After eight years in this field, he decided to go back to school and become an IT systems engineer. He used this background to work as a project manager for BarnesandNoble.com and then as a consultant for the company.
Tony realized he was an entrepreneur at heart, so he took the leap of faith and invested in tanning salons. After a successful career owning and operating the tanning salons, he sold them to invest in a partnership with a local granite and marble company.
Although his granite company proved to be yet another successful venture, Tony realized that he did not enjoy stocking the inventory, managing crews, and dealing with the day-to-day operations and headaches of this type of industry!
After an extensive search for a new career path, he discovered the Made in the Shade Blinds and More opportunity. When asked what appealed to him most about the MITS model, Tony confidently stated that it afforded him the flexibility he was looking for, minus the overhead and inventory that he had to manage with his other businesses. Since there is no inventory to maintain and little to any overhead with the MITS opportunity, this seemed like the perfect fit for Tony.
Additionally, Tony commented that “he really liked the family feeling he got from the people involved with the company.” He soon realized that this was a common theme throughout the whole group of MITS owners.
Tony’s immediate business goal is to feel confident in his knowledge of the products he sells and the installation processes. His ultimate plan is to build his MITS business to the point where referrals represent the majority of his business. Customer service is of upmost importance to Tony, as he clearly recognizes that client satisfaction is key for future referrals.
Tony’s long-term business goal is to grow Made in the Shade of Bucks County to a point where he needs to hire a sales team to support the demands of an expanding business. Tony confidently stated that this will be the last business in which he is involved until retirement comes into play!
During his leisure time, Tony enjoys working out, fishing, and driving his collector cars and motorcycles. He is pleased to acknowledge that the MITS model should help him to pursue his hobbies and interests more freely.
