Made in the Shade is very excited to introduce Joel Stickler as the new owner of Made in the Shade East Louisville, and as a valued new member of the Made in the Shade family. His new business will benefit greatly from his extensive experience as a business owner who works directly with homeowners, as well as his sales talent, customer service skills, and dedication to excellence. We foresee a very bright future for Joel and his family!
Joel has owned and operated a residential construction company for almost 20 years. He started Stickler Construction in 2003 and specializes in kitchen and bathroom remodeling, finishing basements, and small room additions. In 2020, Joel expanded and opened another business, Louvered Outdoor, offering exterior space enhancements, such as decks and louvered pergolas, and exterior solar shade systems! There is no doubt that his impressive background and experience places him on a fast track to success in the interior window fashions as well.
Tell us about your family and their interests
One of my passions is woodworking. My most recent project was making a custom acoustic guitar which feeds into my love for music. I play both guitar and drums. Other interests include sketching, photography and reading. Our entire family loves the outdoors and our favorite activity is hiking in the Great Smokey Mountains.
What appealed to you about the Made in the Shade opportunity?
My cousin, Brad Hicks, is the owner of a Made in the Shade franchise and introduced me to the organization. I knew early on in the process that this was a perfect fit for me.
The sales experience I gained from running my remodeling business and my understanding of how to work with consumers in their home lend itself perfectly to this opportunity.
What are your immediate business goals? (Year 1)
My immediate goal is simple. To learn everything I can and become a true expert in window fashions. While my first 12-month sales goal of $1,000,000 in retail sales may seem lofty, I am confident that it’s highly attainable.
What are your long-term business goals?
|Long-term I expect Made in the Shade Eastern Louisville be recognized as the leading window fashion retailer in Kentucky. I also hope to teach my 6 children the business and eventually pass it on to them when I retire.|
