Made in the Shade extends an enthusiastic welcome to Alyson and Marc Bundy as the proud owners of Made in the Shade Lafayette, Louisiana. Alyson and Marc are fulfilling their dream of raising their family in a beautiful rural setting and starting a new journey as business owners selling custom window fashions. We are excited to support their efforts and see them flourish!

Professional background

Marc currently is employed as a heavy equipment mechanic and works 14 days on and 14 days off in the Gulf of Mexico. He is originally from Highpoint, North Carolina. Prior to his current career, Marc was a member of Richard Petty’s NASCAR pit crew for over a decade. He has traveled all over the country with the team, maintaining Richard’s famous car number 43. Alyson is an Executive Assistant to the CEO of their local hospital. She has been in administrative work for the over 20 years. Her skills will serve her new business very well!

What hobbies/interests do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Marc has a love for playing golf and speed boats and we both spend lots of our time outdoors prepping our property. We recently built our home on several undeveloped acres in the country and hope to one day have a deck overlooking our pond. We’re eager to landscape, (ok, just me!), and enjoy all that being back in the country brings, from beautiful sunsets on the front porch to evening bar-b-ques in the back yard. We also enjoy spending time on the water, boating and fishing for speckled trout. During the winter months, we absolutely have fallen in love with skiing! We made a family vacation of my daughter’s senior trip and it is now our annual winter family vacation tradition!

Tell us about your family and their interests.

Marc and I met in early 2018 and married in late 2019. We’re now a family of four with a dog. Both children are Freshmen, one in college and the other in high school. Payton is a Dean’s List student majoring in business management with a path migrating toward accounting and finance. She is quiet, analytical and loves to read fantasy books. Drew is an honors student and gearing up to take driver’s education. He’s the social butterfly! He’s busy, inquisitive and is always on the move. One day he become an incredible window fashions installer! When I’m not working or tangled up in making life happen, I enjoy kicking my feet up with a good book.

What appealed to you about the Made in the Shade opportunity?

Marc and I have always talked about owning a business but couldn’t decide what product or service to offer. When we had our home built in 2020, we called a local retailer to purchase and install our blinds and shades. That’s when the lightbulb went off!.  We talked about several different options but always circled back to the window fashions opportunity. Marc was offshore one night and called me and said, “Made in the Shade, that’s what we’ll buy.”  I’d never heard of it prior because the two locations in Louisiana and both are a couple of hours away. I did some research and reached out to the Northshore location. The information shared over that 1.5 hour conversation  was so thorough and explained in a way that further sparked my interest.  This led to the initial call with Eddie and other franchisees. Each person that I spoke to seemed genuinely happy with their decision to join MITS. The resources that are available and the support that is offered was  very important in our decision to move forward.
